The development of the NUS Budget Executive Summary 2009 fulfills a commitment in increasing the transparency and accountability regarding the finances of the National Union of Students Inc.

The Executive Summary seeks to outline the resources provided to each of the National Officers in conducting their activities throughout 2009. It also aims to provide a snapshot of the resources allocated by NUS from income derived through affiliation fees provided by member organisations. By having a clearer understanding of where these resources are allocated, it is hoped that this will enable member organsation greater insight into how their affiliation fees are spent.

As you will be aware, all member organisations were invoiced for their 2009 NUS Affiliation Fees at the full rate per EFTSL, as outlined in the NUS Constitution.

As a result of VSU, the majority of member organisations have relied on NUS granting fee reductions to enable them to afford their affiliation fees. NUS understands that this will continue in 2009.
